InsomniMax 3.1.6

Updated 5/25/2009.

Download the latest version here.

What is new with 3.1.X? Many mods have been updated. Omen, which mysteriously was left off on a previous version, has been re-added. Enchantrix and Stubby were removed as they required the now bloated Auctioneer to work properly.

Regarding 3.1.3 and after: This is a MAJOR REWRITE replacing many old, bloated mods. In essence, I had the day off and was able to scrub the whole suite. The result is my best suite ever with a smaller file size, smaller memory footprint, and it is way more user friendly. There are so many replacements and improvements, I don’t know where to start...

Auctioneer Suite is out, replaced by AuctionMaster and qAHImproved. Auctioneer was getting too bloated and non-user friendly. AuctionMaster and qAHImproved give you what you need, average auction price and current auction price in the tool tip and a slick interface at the AH.

Most CT Mod functions are out, BetterInbox is in, replacing MailMod.

ControlFreak is added for tanks to help with crowd control.

Examiner is in, allowing a quick check of a toon’s gear, even after they run away from you.

Gatherer is out, replaced by Gathermate. Import the database for a VERY compete list of collected items.

FlightMap is out, replaced by the flight timer in QuestHelper and HandyNotes.

HatTrick is new and allows quick toggle of hat/cloak visibility from your character window.

Sellfish is new, listing vendor sales price of any item in the tool tip.

Talented is new, allowing you to save and import talent trees.

EquipCompare is out replaced by Tekkompare

ShadowTrance is new, to help us Locks when our instant ShadowBolt procs.

!Swatter is out replaced by !BugGrabber and BugSack.

LinksList is out, too big, too inefficient.

MonkeyQuest Log is out, it was unnecessary.

Bongos has been replaced by Dominos. Use /dominos to configure your bars.

DamageMeters is out, replaced by Recount.

EnhToolTip has been replaced by TipTac.

Bongos has been replaced by Dominos. Use /dominos to configure your bars.

Almost all other remaining UIs were updated to the latest version.

Important Note: Always make sure to delete your old addons folder and replace with the new InsomniMax version. Failure to do this may give you problems as the names of mods change every once in a while and you will end up with two versions of the same mod running at once. This = bad.

Open Issues with this version: None, as long as you enable out of date addons.

Common fixes/Questions:

I recommend disabling Omen unless you are a tank.

Under QuestHelper (Call: /qh) Disable to Quest Arrow

Under AuctionMaster, disable Snipes else your scan will take FOREVER.

Under /tomtom: Under Coordinate Block, disable Coordinate Block to remove X, Y box. Under World Map, disable player and cursor coordinates. Under Waypoint Arrow, disable Waypoint Arrow and ETA.

DOTimer, ShadowTrance, and ShardMax are Warlock mods and are not needed for other classes.

Use /xperl to configure your player frames.

Use /ct to configure buff display.

Type /tomtom or /way to toggle or access the new coordinate helpers.

Type, “/cooldowns”, then lock AND disable this mod which is unfortunately part of DOTimer.

In order for AuctionMaster to work you will have to go the auction house and click on the top left button. It will take about 10-15 minutes. For the most up to date info on item cost, scan often. The more you scan the better your info will be.

In order for BankItems to work, you will need to visit the bank. After your first visit, type /bankitems at any time to see what is in your bank including in the bank bags!!!

VERY IMPORTANT: When you are done configuring, logout, exit game, and log back in. This will save all your settings. If you don’t logout and the game crashes, you must start from scratch. :(

Why use UIs in WoW? Simple answer: They will make you a better player. You will level faster, be a deadlier foe, understand the game more, be frustrated less, and make WAY more gold.

What is InsomniMax? InsomniMax started when I kept getting requests from my friends and guildies to make the UIs I used available for them download. In order to assist them in setting it up, I wrote a fairly indepth guide (below). Although originally based on the Insomniax UI Suite, as my experience in dealing with UIs has grown, the dependence on Insomniax has decreased. Over the recent patches I have added a lot of great UIs, removed some problematic things, and fixed any problematic UIs. It is not perfect, but is as close as I can achieve. My philosophy with UIs is to provide every UI needed to make WoW as enjoyable as possible. I purposely try to keep the suite manageable in size by only adding time tested and often used UIs. I figure if the UI suite gets too large and complicated, no one will use it. I give you everything you need and want, and nothing you don’t. I thoroughly encourage you to add UIs for you specific class/professions and encourage you to post suggestions or problems so I can address them as soon as possible.

Warning: I am not one of the amazingly talented creators of these mods nor am I a coder. I simply zip my Addons folder and make it available for download and use by my fellow WoWers. I cannot vouch for the purity of the UI files or the safety of running them. Use at your own risk.

Will there be updates? Yes and regular ones at that. The positive response to the suite has been overwhelming. I continue to update the suite, sometimes weekly, so that the best mods are available for you… so check back often. Also as everyone has been so supportive, when patches occur I want to continue to earn your support by releasing a stable version ON PATCH DAY, every patch day. If Blizzard breaks it, I will fix it and get you back up and running that night.

InsomniMax 3.1.2

Updated 4/22/2009.

Download the latest version here.

What is new with 3.1.X? Some updates for the 3.1 patch, but still quite a few that haven't gotten the 3.1 treatment yet. Fixes for Deadly Bos Mods that effected whispering and fancy fix for FlightMap re-enabling Flight Master icons on world map.

Common fixes/Questions:

I’ve heard a couple random accounts of Flight Path problems. If you experience any issues try, going to (account) (your server) (your character) and delete the file “layout-cache.txt”.

Bongos has been replaced by Dominos. Use /dominos to configure your bars.

Use /tiptac to configure your tip box.

Under /tomtom: Under Coordinate Block, disable Coordinate Block to remove X, Y box. Under World Map, disable player and cursor coordinates. Under Waypoint Arrow, disable Waypoint Arrow and ETA.

DOTimer and ShardMax are Warlock mods and are not needed for other classes.

Use /xperl to configure your player frames.

Use /ct to configure buff display.

Use /ll to view the LootLink item database. The database will grow as you see more items in game.
Type: “/ll”, then uncheck “show button” to disable the silly LootLink button.

Type /tomtom or /way to toggle or access the new coordinate helpers.

Type, “/cooldowns”, then lock AND disable this mod which is unfortunately part of DOTimer.

Type “/auctioneer load always”. Type “/auctioneer embed on”.
Type “/informant load always”. Type “/informant embed on”.
Type “/enchantrix load always”. Type “/enchantrix embed on”.

Type “/eqc on” to turn on EquipCompare.

Also, under AtlasLoot, I recommend selecting “equipcompare” and “lootlink.” If you miss the first chance to set it up, open Atlas and then click the options tab at the bottom.

In order for Auctioneer to work you will have to go the auction house and click scan. It will take about 10-15 minutes. For the most up to date info on item cost, scan often. The more you scan the better your info will be.

In order for BankItems to work, you will need to visit the bank. After your first visit, type /bankitems at any time to see what is in your bank including in the bank bags!!!

InsomniMax 3.0.1

Updated 2/17/2009.

Download the latest version here.

Important Note: Always make sure to delete your old addons folder and replace with the new InsomniMax version. Failure to do this may give you problems as the names of mods change every once in a while and you will end up with two versions of the same mod running at once. This = bad.

Open Issues with this version: None

What is new with 3.0.X?I took a little WoW break, but am now back grinding away. As every mod was updated for Lich King, there were many changes and deletions. See the full list below for each mods description.

Common fixes/Questions:

I’ve heard a couple random accounts of Flight Path problems. If you experience any issues try, going to (account) (your server) (your character) and delete the file “layout-cache.txt”.

Bongos has been replaced by Dominos. Use /dominios to configure your bars.

InsomniMax 2.4.11

Updated 5/31/2008.

Download the latest version here.

Important Note: Always make sure to delete your old addons folder and replace with the new InsomniMax version. Failure to do this may give you problems as the names of mods change every once in a while and you will end up with two versions of the same mod running at once. This = bad.

Open Issues with this version: Some instability with TomTom.

What is new with 2.4.X? A relatvely significant update... Updates for the brilliant but buggy TomTom and always in beta Auctioneer. Swapped TipBuddy for the vastly superior TipTac. Dumped the no longer supported TheoryCraft for Critology. Swapped the no longer supported LootLink with LinksList. Added Omen and Deadly Boss Mods to help with raids.

Common fixes/Questions:

I’ve heard a couple random accounts of Flight Path problems. If you experience any issues try, going to (account) (your server) (your character) and delete the file “layout-cache.txt”.

Good news, bongos is fixed; bad news, you have to configure all your bars. :( If only the bongos author made every new version backwards compatible…

To configure bongos, type “/bongos”, enable the minimap button, left click the minimap button to enter editing mode, then hold control and drag to create a new action bar.

Use /tiptac to configure your tip box.

Under /tomtom: Under Coordinate Block, disable Coordinate Block to remove X, Y box. Under World Map, disable player and cursor coordinates. Under Waypoint Arrow, disable Waypoint Arrow and ETA.

Under /bongos, disable any new bars you don’t want.

DOTimer and ShardDeleter are Warlock mods and are not needed for other classes.

Use /bongos to configure your bars. If you save a configuration for one toon, you can just load that configuration for all your other toons.

Use /xperl to configure your player frames.

Use /ct to configure buff display.

Use /dhud to configure the hud. For beginners, I recommend disabling this mod.

Use /ll to view the LootLink item database. The database will grow as you see more items in game.

Use /ttst to configure spell countdowns and autoannouncing.

Type: “/qa every 1000″ to set the quest announcer to only announce to your first and last items collected in a quest.

Type: “/dhud menu” then uncheck “show player frame” to remove broken player frame on screen.

Type: “/tc”, under the button text tab, uncheck “Enable button text” to disable text on your buttons.

I included a LootLink database installer to start you off with a pretty full item database, but this will not override any existing items. You can disable or delete the mod once you run it the first time.

In order for CharactersViewer to work, you will need to simply login as any of your alts. Using the “compare” button under the “character window,” to view all the equipment for any of your alts!!!

VERY IMPORTANT: When you are done configuring, logout, exit game, and log back in. This will save all your settings. If you don’t logout and the game crashes, you must start from scratch. :(

Bongos - Use to move, resize, and control options on spell bars. Bongos can be configured to switch bars during certain stances/forms. Important note: Keybindings should be set under the computer icon button (on main game menu bar), under keybindings. Scroll down to Bongos and set them up. Setting key bindings using DAB menu does not save after logout, setting them with computer icon will save. Call: /bongos and /cooldowns

OLD INSTALL NOTES (not updated):

Side note: Although DHUD and formerly StatusBars were controversial UIs, I can tell you that after experimenting with DHUD, it has changed how I play. With the way I have it setup now, the HUD and target info only appear when I have aggro or have targetted a non-NPC. In this way my eyes stay on the target (not jumping to the left corner) and when I am not fighting my screen is realtively clean. DHUD rocks, mess with it, TTST, and PERL and you will never go back.

Installation notes: First, if you have had other UIs and want to start fresh: under “ProgramFiles/WorldofWarcraft” delete WTF and WDB files, this clears all your old UI options. You should probably do this after every other patch or so to keep your config clean. Next go to “ProgramFiles/WorldofWarcraft/Interface” delete all folders (likely just “Addons”). (For the faint of heart, you can just move these four files somewhere else in case you change your mind later.) Now download “InsomniMax” and copy the “Addons” folder directly into “ProgramFiles/WorldofWarcraft/Interface.”

Now start WoW.
First, at the character select screen, click “addons.” Check “Load Out of Date Addons” Check “Enable All”. Change “Script Memory” to 110. Now scroll down and ensure all UIs are enabled. [IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are new at UIs or want the quickest install possible, disable the mods with "Bongos" in them and PERL. Bongos is a mod that allows you to move and customize your spell/action bars. PERL customizes how your, your target, and your party members' frames appear on your screen. If installed, Bongos and PERL will take by far the longest time to configure. If you are happy with the bars given by WoW, just disable those mods and continue.] Now click OK.

Now take a deep breath, select a character, and enter world. When you first see your screen, all I can say is, “it will be okay, we’ll get through this.” :)

We will start by cleaning up your screen:

At the bar at the top of you screen (Titan Bar): right click “options”. Unclick “display both bars”. That will remove the bar at the bottom of your screen.

Type “/dy bar”. This will remove the silly panic status bar.

If it is open, close the autorepair window by clicking the X to close. We will deal with it later.

Move the decursive window to somewhere out of the way in the top of the screen. If you or any of you group/raid mates gets an affliction you can cure, a button with their name and affliction will appear below the decursive bar. Simply click the button to cure them. Type “/dcrshow” to toggle the visibility.

On mini map CT button click “CT”. We are now going to configure CT MOD. (Warning: You may have to toggle some of these buttons to get the desired effect, IE turn a function off then back on again.) Click “unlock frames”. Click “moveable control panel”. Now click the “player mod” tab. Enable “casting timer”. Change “buff expiration” to one minute. Click “buff style” to show buff “CT style”. Enable “expiration sound”. Disable “regen mod border”. Disable “regen mod”. (These last two steps removed the silly bar that is open and says “ticks”.) Click “Misc. Mods” tab. Disable “quest levels”. (Don’t worry monkey quest has it’s own quest level counter.) Now close the CT Mod panel.

More cleanup, this time of DamageMeter. Close the movable red bar. (Don’t worry we’ll bring it back later on the Titan bar.)

Now to get rid of some more clutter. There will be one or two small buttons to the right side of the screen that when moused over says click to drag. Left click and drag the button(s) out of the way. (I keep mine under the minimap to the right.) What are they? One is a builtin to WoW to move a visible quest list (this is replaced by MonkeyQuest). The other, who knows. If you find out let me know so I can set them free.

There will be a barely visible list of all quests, click “x” to close it. We will also configure that (Monkey Quest) later.

[For those who DISABLED Bongos, click on the computer shaped button, then interface, and add any spell/action bars you desire.]
[This portion is applicable only for those who enabled DAB:
BONGOS CONT: Under construction (I am learning this mod myself)

Configuring Chat Windows: Next, we will move around the main chat window and add a new chat window for less important text. Right click anywhere on the chat window. Right click on “general tab”. Click “unlock window”. Left click the tab, hold, and drag the window where ever you want it to be. You can also resize the window by dragging on the borders in any direction. Right click the “general tab” again and select “lock window” when you have the window where you want it and the right size. Right click “general tab” again and select “create new window”. Name the window “alt chat”. Enter. Drag the new window to the bottom right of the screen and resize it so that it is smaller than your main chat window. Right Click “alt chat” tab. Now, to make the new window clear. Click “background” and move the slider to “0” and click “OK”. Right click the ‘alt chat” tab and under “channels” deselect all channels, then select “general” “trade” “local defense” and “looking for group”. This selects this window to show only the less important text. On original chat window right click “general” and under “channels” deselect “general” “trade” “local defense” and “looking for group”. This makes sure the main chat window shows only the important text. Now you have two chat windows and only really need to watch the one during a fight/talking to friends.

Now to configure Monkey Quest: Click the “Monkey Button” on the mini map and click the “monkey quest” tab. Select “open monkey quest”. Select “show hidden items”. Select “hide the border”. Select “expand upwards”. Select “show the number of quests.” Select “color the quest titles by difficulty”. Select “hide the title buttons”. Select “close”. On the Monkey Quest bar, minimize all quest areas, by clicking on each minus sign. Then drag the Monkey Quest bar where you want it to be on the screen. Rember the bottom of the MonkeyQuest window will stay in the same place, the list will expand upwards. Right click on the Monkey Quest title. Slide “background alpha” slider to 0. Select “lock the monkey quest frame” and then “close”.

Now for the bar at the top, the Titan Bar: Left click the clock on the bar and adjust the offset to match your local time. Right click the bar anywhere and under “Titan Built-ins” toggle “bag” to ON. Disable “loot type”. Toggle “money” to ON. Enable “performance”. Under “general” select “recap”. This will display each of these items on the bar. Hit escape to exit the Titan options.

Now to make sure your tips appear correctly and in a non-annoying place. Type “/tipbuddy”. Select “anchor unit tips”. Under “non-unit tool tips” Select “tipbuddy anchor”. Click “display tipbuddy anchor”. Select “OK”. Drag “tipbuddy anchor” to where ever you want. Click “x” on “tipbuddy anchor” to make it go away.

To configure your portrait and the settings for how your party members and targets will be shown, type “/perl” or click on the pearl shaped button on the mini map. After setting everything the way you like it, make sure to save the configuration so you can easily just load the way you have things setup with your other toons.

To configure the autorepair utility, type “/ar config”. Select “prompt”, unselect “skipinv”, and select “verbose”. From now on when you go to a vendor that can repair your equipment, a prompt will appear to remind you to do just that.

Now for WoW Interface stuff: On the menu bar click the computer icon. Click “interface options”. Under “basic” tab: Deselect “profanity filter”. Select “instant quest text”. Select “buff durations”. Select “guild member alert”.
Under the “advanced options” tab: select “NPC names”. Select “follow terrain.” Click “OK”. Return to Game.

Lastly, a couple of fixes: Type “/auctioneer load always”. Type “/auctioneer embed on”. Type “/informant load always”. Type “/informant embed on”. Type “/enchantrix load always”. Type “/enchantrix embed on”.

Type “/eqc on”

The good news is you are done. Enjoy clicking on, modifying, and trying all your new UIs. The bad news is you need to repeat the process for all your alts. :( Happy configuring.
